2018 blogging goals

Welcome to my first post in 2018! 2017 was a pretty good year for me. I achieved a lot and I grew so much as a person. Therefore, I’m very excited to see how much growth and achievements 2018 will bring.

One of the ways I measure growth and achievements is by setting new goals and of course, with a New Year comes new goals. Personally, I love setting new goals for myself on a weekly and a monthly basis. It allows me to be more productive and always stay on track. However, I always set my long term goals at the beginning of the year.

In most cases, I don’t achieve them in a year, but that’s OK, because they are long term goals, meaning it can take two, three or even more years to achieve them. Each long term goal is set to build a future I want. I feel like 2017 helped me to lay a foundation for my future. I discovered parts of myself that allowed me to see what career I actually want and what I’m actually capable of if I push myself hard enough. Therefore, I think 2018 will be a great year for me to build upon that.

The new goals that I’ve set for 2018 can be organised into different categories such as health and fitness, relationships, skills and so on. However, in today’s blog post I just want to share my blogging goals for 2018.

I always start thinking of my New Year’s goals at the beginning of December, so one of the first blogging goals I set for myself was to redesign my blog. However, I got too excited and did it before the New Year came, so technically I’ve already achieved this.

Although I only changed my header and the fonts, and made everything pink, I’m very happy with how it turned out because I feel like it’s more me. Throughout, 2018 I definitely want to improve the design even more. For example, I want to buy the Pipdig Shopr plugin so I can make a Wishlist section on my blog.

Since I started this blog I’ve been taking all my photos on my phone. However, back in November I really started disliking my photos. I felt like they are just so flat and basically all the same. This resulted in me being demotivated to produce content.

I knew had to do something about this and the first solution I came up with was to buy a new camera. Of course, I wanted to get the famous Olympus Pen which every blogger and their grandma seem to have. I was so desperate that I almost sold a camera I already owned, which is actually ten times better than the Olympus Pen. However, I soon realised I was being an idiot. It did take someone to almost scam me and get the camera for free by sending me a fake Paypal email, as well as someone offering me £400 for the camera even though used ones are being sold for £700. I decided to order a new lens for the camera I already own instead, and just challenge myself to improve my photography skills throughout 2018.

It will take me a little while to get used to shooting with a DSLR, as I haven’t done it since I finished my photography course. Therefore my photos will be a bit of a mess for the next few months, but I’m very excited to up my photography game.

Now that I’ve actually designed a logo for my blog, I want to create a media kit and business cards. Last year I missed out on a couple of great opportunities to work with amazing brands, because they requested a media kit and I didn’t have one. I could’ve easily put together a media kit in less than an hour, but I’m a perfectionist and I want my blog to be a brand. Therefore, I couldn’t do it until I had a logo.

Moreover, I think business cards are great for expanding your reach as you can leave them in coffee shops etc. and catch someone’s attention. I mean Carli Bybel kick-started her YouTube career by leaving her business cards everywhere. Look where she is now, so I need to try it for myself.

This goal may be a bit far-reaching, but in 2017 I learnt to really believe in myself, and normally if I really want something, it happens. Thus, this year will be a hardcore study of everything SEO.

There you go, these are my blogging goals for 2018. Of course I also want to increase my following across all social media platforms, but it’s not my priority. All I’m really aiming for is to improve the quality of my content. I think naturally that will translate in an increase of followers.

I hope you have an incredible 2018, filled with joy and happiness, as well as success and great achievements!

What are your goals for 2018?

Great goals to have! One goal I have for my blog this year is to get it out there and share it more! I never used to put my blog on social media because of fears of what people might say/think, but this year if I want to expand my blog then I know it has to be done!
