A little while ago I finally purchased my first Too Faced product. Too Faced is a brand I’ve had my heart set on for years as I absolutely love their packaging. I saw Hannah from LuxuryBlush had purchased the Too Faced Love palette from TKMaxx, so I thought I would check out my local TKMaxx to see if they have any Too Faced goodies. Luckily, they had this palette and I managed to get it for £14.99. How amazing is that?
This gorgeous palette is “inspired by the lost art of love letters” and is made up of 15 shimmer, pearl and matte shadows to create “the most romantic looks of all time”.
The packaging of the Too Faced Love palette
I’m obsessed with the packaging of this palette. The outer box is baby pink and white and resembles a love letter with the stamp in the right hand corner. The actual palette has the same design, but it’s finished off with an embossed black frame.
The palette is quite bulky and thick with a click in closure. It’s fairly difficult to open. However, I don’t think that’s a bad thing as it’s safer to travel with.
It’s made of a sturdy plastic which is quite heavy. The palette also includes a mirror. The frame of the mirror has a nice swirling pattern around it which adds a nice ‘love is in the air’ touch to it. The eyeshadows are arranged into three quintets with a heart design in the middle and hearts embossed on two shadows per quintet. I love the hearts as it really ties in well with the love theme this palette is aiming for.
The back of both the outer packaging and the actual palette showcases all the colours in the palette as well as their names.
The palette also comes with a black waterproof eyeliner and little guides on how to create six looks.
The formula of the Too Faced Love palette
The palette has an “innovative slurry powder technology” which creates “velvety, smooth and soft pigments that offer multidimensional and intense colour payoff”. They call it “slurry technology” because the shadows have a hybrid texture that feels like a cream, yet applies like a powder.
I absolutely love the texture of these shadows. They are so smooth and buttery. At first, I wasn’t sure if I would like them, because they felt like cream shadows (not my favourite), but once I applied them they actually were a powder. They are very pigmented, super easy to blend and they last all day long. Normally, my shadows crease around midday, because I have oily skin, but these don’t, at all.
The colours in the Too Faced Love palette
Pure Love quint (left)
Cherish is a light-medium peach with warm, orange undertones and a frosted finish. I absolutely love this shade for everyday wear.
Desire is a medium-dark, golden brown with warm, caramel undertones.
Amorous is a muted purple brown with neutral-to-warm undertones and a matte finish. This shade is not as pigmented as the other shades, but I didn’t have high expectations from it as it is a purple shade. I also find that this shade is more difficult to blend than the other shades.
Dearest is a light-medium gold with warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic sheen. This one is super sparkly and pretty. However, as it has more sparkle it has quite crumbly consistency and has quite fair amount of fall out during application.
Adore is a soft, medium-dark copper with warm, orange-brown undertones and metallic sheen.
True Love quint (middle)
Smitten is a light, creamy pink with a satin finish. This one is quite powdery and more prone to sheering out when blended on the skin. It barely shows up on my pale skin.
Romance is a muted medium-dark brown with warm undertones and a matte finish. This one is quite powdery, but super easy to blend. I absolutely love to put this one in my crease as it creates the perfect transition shade.
Obsessed is a very deep brown shade with a gold shimmer finish. It’s extremely pigmented and very easy to blend for such a dark shade.
Passion is a muted medium-dark mauve purple with gold sparkle and metallic sheen. I’m obsessed with this shade as I find it’s the most unique colour in this palette.
Sweetie Pie is a light-medium pink with cool undertones and a pearly sheen. The perfect pink shade in my opinion.
Forbidden Love quint (right)
Devotion is a peachy gold with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. Another one of my favourites for everyday wear.
Puppy Love is a soft, medium brown with warm undertones and a subtle, frosted sheen.
Everlasting is a blackened green with a pearly shimmer finish. This one is so pigmented and perfect for a dark smoky eye.
Darling is a soft, light-medium green with warm, golden pearl finish. I love this shade as it’s quite different.
XoXo is a soft, light-medium orange with warm undertones and a lightly frosted finish.
Overall rating: 5/5
Overall I’m obsessed with this palette. Ever since I got it, I’ve been reaching for it more than anything else in my collection. I feel like this palette has such a good array of shades perfect for day and night. Thus, it makes it a really nice palette for travelling.
Of course, there are some shades that I’m not that keen on, but I don’t think there’s a palette that is 100% perfect. However, this one comes very close to perfect as I love the pigmentation and the formula of most of the shades.
I definitely recommend you to check out your local TKMaxx stores if you want the Too Faced Love palette as you can get it for such a bargain. However, Debenhams is currently selling this palette for £33.15 here which I think is still an amazing price for this palette.
